 Mexico Mission Trip

When:  Thursday, July 5- Sunday, July 8

9:00 am Thursday @ church, return by 4:00 pm Sunday

Where: Door of Faith Orphanage, La Mission, Mexico.

Cost: There is no cost. Our car wash fundraiser brought in enough money to pay for this trip. However we will be purchasing supplies to hand out and possibly building materials. Any further donations will be used and greatly appreciated.

How: We will be taking down a 15 passenger van and possibly 1 or 2 more cars to carry supplies. Brad will be driving the van with all the students in it.

To go on this trip you must have either:

A valid passport

or

A copy of your birth certificate and a photo ID

La Mission will be pretty warm during the day (80º or so), but it can get cool at night. Shoes are very important. Two pairs of good closed-toe shoes that can get dirty are a must. Mexican culture is very different than ours in dress, so please read the guidelines below. Remember, it's not about us, it's about them.

q       Sleeping bag

q       Pillow

q       Toiletries (teeth stuff, shower stuff, soap, deodorant, etc.)

q       Sunscreen

q       Shoes (2 pairs of closed-toe shoes and some flip flops)

q       Mission appropriate clothing (No tank tops or low cut shirts- keep your tummy covered too, no boxers showing, no shorts above the knee- we will be wearing long pants when we are working. Please ask if you have questions).

q       Clothes to work in (long pants that can get dirty and painted)

q       Work gloves

q       Warmer clothes for nighttime (sweatshirt, etc.)

q       Church clothes- pants, collared shirts, dresses preferred for girls

q       A bathing suit in case we visit the beach. (girls: one piece or shirt and board shorts to cover up with please)

q       Bible, pen/pencil, paper

q       Flashlight

q       Wallet with ID. Also bring some cash for 2 fast food stops and a little spending money for soda, candy, or souvenirs. No more than $40 please.

q       DO NOT BRING: and pocket knives, weapons, or expensive electronic equipment. No games (PSP, game boys, etc.) or music devices.
