Spring 2008 Connecting Groups

FAQ'S

In January, we will continue a study focus for small groups, Connecting Groups.
Below we hope to answer any questions you might have.

Connecting Groups Most Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Connecting Group?

A Connecting Group (CG) is made up of 8-12 people who meet in homes for eight weeks to study, share, and support one another in their Christian lives.  The studies are based on the previous Sunday's text and message using a study guide found in Sunday's Bulletin or on this website.  Each CG will have a facilitator who promotes discussions.  A typical meeting lasts two hours including light refreshments, discussion, and prayer.  No homework is required, but please feel free to look over questions beforehand.

Who is a CG for?

It's for anyone who: wants to learn more about the Scripture from Sunday's message; who wants a deeper relationship with others at CPC; and for everyone in between.  Because of the personal and relational nature of the study, it works well for both new and more mature Christians, as well as spiritual seekers.

Why use the Sermon-Based Model?

This model adds to the effectiveness of the large group worship experience by building a discussion around the application of Sunday's message.  CG members have an opportunity to discover how the Scripture applies to their daily lives and share their thoughts with fellow worshippers.

What happens to existing Small Groups?

There are CPC small groups that have been in existence for a number of years.  The existing groups have the option to continue as they have in the past or participate in the CG model that will begin in January.  This will be the group's choice.

What is the required commitment?

Joining a CG requires a commitment to attend meetings for the eight-week duration.  This commitment is the key to strong relationships and a healthy group.
